Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is personally involved in the Denis Suarez transfer saga this month after promising that he could leave the club, with the 25-year-old keen on joining Arsenal this January, but there is an issue over money.
The midfielder has hardly featured under Ernesto Valverde and Barcelonaunderstand his desire to leave, but given the club's desire to strengthen, they want to use the funds they generate from a sale to do so.
Barcelona estimate that they could receive between 10 and 15 million euros for Suarez, but the player himself has already struck an agreement with Arsenal, where he would reunite with his former coach from Sevilla, Unai Emery; it is just the two clubs who have not yet agreed.
The London club do not have the money to purchase Suarez right now, but they have made their interest in the player clear and have been adamant that they will receive a cash windfall in the summer, allowing them to purchase him then.
Consequently, the negotiations have reached a bit of an impasse, with Barcelonawanting the money now and Arsenal asking them to wait.
Bartomeu did promise Suarez a move, however, so a loan with a compulsory option to buy seems like the best option, even if it provides less flexibility for Barcelona in this current window.
